Promote Yourself!

Book promotion is 90% of getting your book published and sold. Writing the book represents only 10% of the work.

Book signing engagements and author publicity are usually left to the author.

You can hear my live Interview on Blog Talk Radio. It was a lot of fun. Hope you'll listen. If you're writing and wish more publicity, being interviewed provides a superb opportunity.

Here in the Media Room is where you will find information about each of my books, plus my upcoming novels and nonfiction.

Photos will appear, taken at my book signings and other events – providing I find someone to take photos, which is not always the case.

As well, announcements of my book signings and where I’ll be appearing will be listed.

You’ll find the back cover synopsis of each book and other information to whet your interest.

Just about anything pertaining to book and author publicity will be presented in the Media Room as part of my specific author publicity.

Use these pages and information as tips to manage your own book promotion and author publicity.

In time, articles to help you schedule your own signings and author events will appear here in the Media Room.

This photo was taken at one of my presentations at Border's Books and Music in Lihue, Hawaii.

A Tip: I prefer not to be behind a podium and will not use one again. I like to get right up into the crowd, pass out flyers and things, and generally interact with the crowd. It helps the audience feel a part of it all.

If I am reading a passage from one of my books, then I might sit, but very close to the group.

River Bones

A Sara Mason Mystery

River Bones, a thriller, has won a couple of significant awards.

The Synopsis: A woman's long search for her abducted child leads to a young woman on Death Row facing lethal injection for a crime she didn't commit.

The story takes place in my childhood hometown area of the Sacramento River Delta in California. Follow the leads to all the River Bones pages and read the exciting news about the competition and reviews.

Through the portals listed below, read about my first novel, The Tropics, which was fictionalized from some of my own near-death escapades in the Caribbean and the Hawaiian Islands. This book went out of print and has been rewritten. It's exciting reading! Book signing photos included.

My second novel, The Ka, is a paranormal Egyptian suspense that takes place in Egypt, mostly at a dig site in Valley of the Queens. More Photos.

Down to the Needle, is another thriller and was released wto brisk sales. It was actually written before River Bones.

The first sequel of River Bones is titled The Howling Cliffs. In River Bones you'll find a sub-plot relating to a man who travels back and forth to Vietnam searching for his MIA brother's remains. In the sequel, that plot comes forward and becomes a major part of the book, though other cold case activity takes place on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. The main character, Sara Mason, and a couple of other characters from River Bones - along with some new faces - people that twisted plot.

And then, I have already conjured other sequels to River Bones. The next story will take place in Hawaii and either San Francisco or Borneo. Yes, Borneo. Sara Mason gets around! The plot is totally ready to write from my mind, but I must finish the first sequel first and settle for making notes only on the next sequel. Wow.

Looking ahead…

Book promotion is now underway for my eBooks. Write it Right - Tips for Authors, Volume I and Volume II, and Legacy of the Tropics, and The Howling Cliffs, the 1st sequel to River Bones. Legacy is the complete rewrite, expansion and dramatization of my first novel, The Tropics.

Additionally - whew! - I've published a collection of zany short stories and flash fiction titled Off Center in the Attic - Over the Top Stories.

These eBooks have been published. Now, book promotion demands we make time for it.

You can watch video trailers for all my books in the Video Theatre. Video trailers not only provide enticing knowledge of the story plots, they are also fun to watch.

And finally…

If anyone has any idea how to add several more hours to my days so I can complete more writing in a timely manner, please let me know.

Book promotion and author publicity take most of my time right now. I barely have time to schedule additional book signings, but somehow always manage to do a few here and there.
